Bioethics laws
Synthesis report of the French National consultative ethics committee
At the end of the public consultation phase of the Estates General on Bioethics, the members of the CCNE are aware that the richness of what has been read, heard and experienced is irreducible to this summary report. However, we are grateful to have been entrusted with it, and we are convinced that this experience, in all its restitutable and unrestitutable aspects, will contribute to our reflections and our work downstream.
We are committed to continuing the work of the Estates General on Bioethics, which consists of creating or maintaining the interest of our fellow citizens in bioethical issues and (re)awakening their collective awareness that these issues directly affect the "hard core" of human beings, which is why it is essential that everyone feels concerned.
It is also for this reason that we take a positive view of the Estates General on Bioethics: whatever the contribution that will be made to this summary as part of the revision of the Bioethics Act, this time for health democracy has already been a time for democratic health. Despite the inevitable tensions, frustrations and discontent that will inevitably be generated by the various changes to the current law or its status quo, it cannot be in vain for a society to organise times when we make the effort to think together about the world we want and the unique way in which we want to live in it.
Lastly, we should point out that this is not an opinion by the CCNE: it will be published in September 2018, at which time a number of proposals will be made for the new bioethics law and the organisation of the ethical debate in our country.
